WHAT GETS YOU OUT OF BED IN THE MORNING?

Is it your drive to get a good job and make money?
what then when you retire?
Is it because you have to take care of your family?
what then when you are on your own?
Is it because you just have to?
what then when you realize you don’t want to just have to anymore?
I’m taking a summer school class and my awesome professor started off asking us that question. I sat back in my seat and realized that everyone should ask themselves the same thing…
Don’t you believe there should be a reason why we live this life?
Let’s be real for a second, don’t you think there is too much pain and too much joy in this world for life to just be a coincidence?
There has got to be meaning in our day, because if not, then what is the point?
I don’t want to sound cynical, instead I want to motivate others to be purposeful and hopeful.
What if you woke up in the morning with joy and passion?
What if you felt like you could get out of bed and change the world?
Because you know who you are, whose you are, and what you are meant to do on this earth.
I don’t mean vocationally, even though our job is supposed to be a big part of our calling. Instead, I’m talking about living for someone greater, something greater.
Living to share the good news that we are saved by grace.
Living for the Kingdom of God, instead of worldly possessions.
Our Heavenly Father wants us to enjoy life. He has given us the Bible not as a rule book, but as loving instruction to help us live life to the fullest. People have just changed the meaning behind that.
John 10:10 “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”
Psalm 16:11 “You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”
The world says that money, fame, sexual desires, etc. will fulfill and will make life more enjoyable, but sin comes to destroy.
Temporary happiness is well, temporary, whereas joy lasts forever.
John 15:11 “These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.”
Today, I really want to just put that question out there...
Do with it what you want. Contemplate it. Talk to someone about it. Answer it. But I suggest you don’t ignore it. Because even if our answers are different, having an answer is important.
WHAT GETS YOU OUT OF BED IN THE MORNING?
For me, it’s the adventure of building my relationship with the Lord and using my gifts and talents to honor Him while spreading His love to others.
I pray that you begin to search for your answer.
With all my love, Delaney Dilfer :)
